Obituary for Josephine Yerger

Josephine C. Yerger, 92, from Gwynedd Valley, PA, peacefully transitioned on Saturday, July 20th, 2019.
For 39 years, she was the devoted wife of her loving husband Paul C. Yerger (deceased). She was born to Albert V. Condello, Sr. and Marie Condello of Chestnut Hill, PA. “Jo” was the oldest sibling of Agnes Squadrito (Flourtown, PA), Grace Ward (deceased) (Sarasota, FL) and Albert V. Condello, Jr. (Sue) (Avalon, NJ) and the dedicated mother to Daniel J. Carnese, Jr. (Angela) (Emerald Hills, CA) and Diane C. Seader (Robert) (Lower Gwynedd, PA) as well as remembered fondly as a special “Aunt Jo” by her niece, Alysa Ward (Tampa, FL) , Tony Squadrito (Flourtown, PA) and Albert V. Condello, III (King of Prussia, PA).
She graduated and remained an active alum leader with her Germantown High School Class of 1945.
Josephine went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine from the University of Pennsylvania followed by a Master’s degree with honors in speech-language pathology from Temple University. She remained an esteemed professional in the field, practicing as a certified licensed speech-language pathologist in Montgomery County, PA for over 30 years, primarily in private practice, though she worked for several years as a speech consultant for the Overbrook School for the Blind and Germantown Academy. Her love of children and patience and empathy for adults dealing with speech disabilities gave her a purpose and passion that was undeniable and kept her services in great demand. She was an active participating member of the American Speech and Language Association, the Pennsylvania Speech and Language Association and served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Private Practice in Speech Pathology and Audiology.
She advocated tirelessly within the Montgomery County and Pennsylvania state political system to advance best practices to help children master reading skills within the school systems.
Upon her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed travelling, golfing, and boating as members of the Avalon Yacht Club in Avalon, NJ. Her talented love of singing kept her engaged with like-minded friends who generously bounced the spotlight and microphone among themselves.
As “Josie” became a resident of Kyffin Grove Assisted Living, she was a “favorite” of all-staff and residents- for her quick smile, entertaining spirit and warm and sincere connections with all.
Her family is grateful for the wonderful opportunity they all provided for Josie to be embraced and loved.
Relatives and friends are invited to help celebrate her life at her Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA, 19454. The Viewing will be from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at the church. Entombment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
