Obituary for Dean Conrad McKean

Dean Conrad McKean, 93, a recent resident of Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on October 23, 2018 at Spring House Estates. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann and Betty LeMaster McKean. Dean was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on April 11, 1925 the only child of the late Wilson and Lillian (Lindberg) McKean. He graduated from Southside High School and then went off to serve his country with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wasp in the south pacific during WWII attaining the rank of Radarman 3rd Class. Dean received his undergrad and M.S. in Pharmaceutical Science from Butler University and also a M.A. in Hospital Administration from Indiana University. He worked as a pharmacist and later held the position of assistant administrator for St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Dean was a past president of Indiana Counsel on World Affairs. He was a member of the Scottish Society of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Aero Club. He is survived by 3 children: Nancy Potter (Robert), Matthew McKean, Abigail McKean Kerrigan; 2 step-children: Patricia LeMaster, David LeMaster (Griselda); 5 grandchildren: Abigail Potter (Jonathan), Casey McKean (Chet), Emily Kuhfeld, Chelsea Poe (Jess), Lorraine LeMaster; a great-granddaughter: Lillian Conrad Poe. He was predeceased by a step-son Doug LeMaster (Tere) and a granddaughter Cory McKean. Services will be held around Father’s Day next year in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions in Dean’s memory can be made in honor of the amazing care he received for the past 6 years to the Appreciation Award/Residents Assoc SHE, (please put in memory of Dean McKean in the memo) 728 Norristown Road, Lower Gwynedd, PA 19002.
