Obituary for Bessie Ann White

Our heavenly father in his infinite wisdom called Home his daughter, Bessie Ann White (Gransby) who departed this life on October 26, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Frederick White. Bessie was born on January 9, 1928 to the late Elisha and Bessie Lee (Stanfield) Gransby at their home on Orange Avenue in Ambler, PA where she lived until 1997. She later went to live with her daughter Barbara in Broad Axe, PA. Barbara and her Mom enjoyed hanging out, shopping and being together over those 22 years and eventually when needed, she became her Mom’s loving care taker. Miss Bessie, as some called her, loved doing puzzles, needle point, word search, crocheting and looking for treasures at yard sales and flea markets. She had a passion for children and would spend her retirement caring for them in one form or another. She worked at the Upper Dublin High School as a cafeteria worker where she later retired and then volunteered for 22 years in a foster grandparent program. She shared her love and time at the North Hills Headstart, Ambler Headstart, Artman Child Development Center, Creative Care Daycare Center and the Silver Spring Martin Luther School. Bessie was a loving woman, all while being brutally honest and a straight shooter. Her yes was yes and her no was no. Sometimes, words were not necessary and if you knew her, you also knew the “look”. Bessie came to Christ early on in her life and was baptized and remained a loyal member at the Zion Baptist Church of Ambler. She worshipped under Pastors Holden, Parker, Chapman and Flores. She was a member of the Missionary Ministry, IRS Ministry and served as doorkeeper on the Usher Ministry for over 60 years. Bessie leaves to cherish her memory her five precious children who she adored: Mabel Laws, Horace White, Barbara Green, James White (Allison) and Charles White; 12 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and 2 bonus grandchildren Myairah and Ryleigh and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Frederick White, Pearl Gransby (sister), Eli Gransby (brother), Mary O’Donnell (sister), and Alice Johnson (sister). Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10:00AM at Zion Baptist Church, 14 North Street, Ambler, PA 19002. The Viewing will be from 8:00-10:00AM. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
