Obituary for Adrian M. "Bud" Aikman, III

Adrian M. “Bud” Aikman, III, age 85, of Elverson, PA, died on December 13, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Jean C. (Masciantonio) Aikman. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on May 27, 1933 to the late Adrian M. Aikman, Jr. and Margaret (Lutz) Aikman. He was a graduate of Springfield High School, Delaware County, class of 1951, where he excelled as a track star and was inducted in the school’s hall of fame. Bud served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Bell Telephone and later AT&T as a systems technician until his retirement. Mr. Aikman was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Elverson and previously at Holy Cross Church in Springfield. He was a dedicated participant of Men of Malvern Retreat House for over 50 years. In his leisure time, Bud enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, collecting newspaper comics, and restoring antique cars. He participated in antique car shows and parades in many locations. He was also very handy, and could fix anything. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and canoeing, and was an avid bowler for many years, earning the nickname “The Alley Cat”. In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by his 4 children Lynda Messantonio of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Barbara Aikman Vahey of Millsboro, DE, Adrian M. “Bud” Aikman, IV of West Bradford, PA, Karen Sardella of Wallingford, PA, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and his sister Margaret “Peggy” Massey of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at from 9:30-10:30 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Church, 219 Fayette St., Conshohocken, PA. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bud’s memory can be made to Men of Malvern Retreat House, 315 S.
