Obituary for Rev. Francis W. Lowe, Sr.

Reverend Francis W. Lowe, Sr., 85, of Plymouth Meeting, died peacefully at his home on September 17, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Saunders) Lowe for over 59 years. He was born in Penllyn, PA on June 20, 1932 to the late Al Johnson and Elizabeth Lowe. Francis was a graduate of Ambler High School class of 1950, where he was voted best male dancer and best dressed, and continued his education at the Philadelphia Bible Institute and also at Temple University. He honorably served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at the US Dept. of Justice where he held several positions; he became Director of Labor Relations until his retirement. Mr. Lowe was an ordained minister and served his ministry at the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible, was an avid tennis player, photographer, and golfer who enjoyed playing at Woody’s, Skippack and Twin Woods Golf Clubs. He was a Marshall for the Bow Creek Golf Course in Virginia Beach, VA. Mr. Lowe also delivered Meals on Wheels in his community, and enjoyed discussing theoretical physics. He also was in a singing group called “Two Dashes and The Dot”. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons Francis W. Lowe, Jr. “Jerry” of Tampa, FL, Corey A. Lowe and wife Courtney of Boothwyn, PA, 3 grandchildren Taryn, Bailey and Carter, a daughter-in-law Linda Saunders Lowe of Maryland, his sister Tertia Holmes of Penllyn, PA, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers-in-law John Holmes, Brenton Saunders, and Jackie Saunders, a sister-in-law Gloria Harvey. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 712 Penllyn Pike (at Dager Rd.), Spring House, PA. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis’ name can be sent to American Cancer Society, P.O.
