Obituary for Francis X. Murphy

Francis X. Murphy, Jr., 75, of Ambler, PA, passed away on November 14, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Tamagno) Murphy for over 52 years. Fran was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 9, 1942 to the late Francis X., Sr. and Elizabeth (Lake) Murphy. He served his country in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Private First Class. Fran worked in the Philadelphia Radio Industry for many years and later specialized in incentive travel sales. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending his time with them, especially his grandchildren. Along with his wife, he is survived by his five children: Mary Beth Sedgwick (Fran), Francis Murphy, III (Elena), Megan Glenn (Jeff), Monica Alexy (Tim), Katie Dugan (Jason); 12 grandchildren; two sisters: Corita DeJure and Edwardine Bruder. He was predeceased by his brothers John and William Murphy. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Church, 16 S. Spring Garden St., Ambler, PA. A visitation will be held from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, 951 E. Butler Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Fran to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org, for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Research.
