Obituary for Charles W. Reighn

Charles Walter Reighn, 92, of Blue Bell, passed away on April 4, 2018 at Exton Senior Living in Exton, PA. He was the beloved husband of the late Stasia Joan (Slusarski) Reighn. He was born in Camden, NJ on November 5, 1925 to the late Benjamin and Mary Elizabeth (Mayer) Reighn. Charles was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, NJ in 1943.
He served our country during WWII; he enlisted into the US Marine Corps at Parris Island, SC on Feb. 26, 1943. He attended radar school, advanced combat training, and was sent overseas serving 2 ½ years in Central and South Pacific with the 7th Defense Battalion and the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Division. He participated in the occupation of Ellice Island (Nanumea), Marianas Islands (Saipan), Palau Islands (Peleliu, Angaur), and Japan, arriving in Nagasaki with the 2nd Marines in Sept. 1945. He was honorably discharges on Jan, 10, 1946. He reenlisted in the USMC Reserves and was called to active duty during the Korean Conflict from 1947-51. He served as Staff Sergeant Communications Chief, 1st Battalion, 10th Marines.
After the service, he was employed by Western Electric Co. (later Bell Atlantic and Lucent), where he worked for 34 years and retired as Dept. Chief of Production. Charles was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by two sons Charles Dennis Reighn (Patricia) of Blue Bell, Gary Michael Reighn (Roberta) of Exton, his grandson Kevin Michael Reighn, his sister Virginia Bagnato of Philadelphia, and his half brother Frederick Reighn. He was pre-deceased by 5 siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 516 Fayette St., Conshohocken, PA. The Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be private for the family at Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
